As I procrastinated (aren't I always..?) during the process of writing the continuation, I tended to forget the little details in each story. Do forgive me :P But in the good side, I don't ramble too much. Straight to the point. Or so I hope.

August 7-10th. The island of Bangka, east of Sumatra.
The next day after the incident, my brother's car failed to start, so he had to call someone from the nearby auto repair shop to check on the car. Apparently, the battery was empty and no cause could be found, for it had been working fine the day before. Later that afternoon, my dad's carpenters started changing all the doors (of my parents' room, my room, and the computer room) to stiff & much stronger wood. They worked until 9.30 at night. I wasn't really thinking, but I made a big mistake. I slept in my room, with the air full of saw dust and wood shavings. And the inevitable happened: the next morning (Aug 6th) my throat was sore and I started coughing. It got worse as the days went on, with slight fever and sweating. Without further ado, I caught pharyngitis, productive cough, and afterwards completed with sinusitis. All those lasted for 2 weeks. A complete flu packet -_-

On Thursday, August 7, I, my mom, and 8 other people went to Bangka (an island in Sumatra, Indonesia; 50 minutes by plane from Jakarta) to join the 2 people (i.e. the leaders) already there for religious ministry (to give praise & worship seminar and inner healing retreat). I was the only one not in the most of vitality, and thus couldn't enjoy the island fun to the maximum level. For most of the time I stayed in the hotel room while the others led the sessions. Only at the very last day of the trip was I able to enjoy the weather & landscape (but I was warned NOT to go to the beach *sobs*). I was only able to take photos of the beach from afar that afternoon. And we took off to Jakarta in the evening.

The most disappointment came from my not being able to truly enjoy the FOOD! Bangka food is really famous in Indonesia due to its spicy and sour taste. Of course, I was forbidden to eat spicy food. I didn't want to worsen my cough anyway, so I had to fast eating chili. Those who know me know how much I love chili. It looks as if I cannot live without chili. But I could enjoy the pempek (fish cake made of sago flour and minced fish; specialty food of Sumatra) without the spicy sauce. It's a good progress, isn't it :)

Coming home from Bangka, I spent most of the time at home. I now forget the exact time, but a few days later (still having the productive cough & sinusitis, but getting better), I got an acute attack of asthma (pressure on the chest & shortness of breath). That was my first time, so I was panicked. Moreover, my mom (who is a medical doctor) was out of country. I tried my best to take a deep breath as long as I could several times. However, I was too sleepy to think of what to do, so I drank hot water and went back to sleep with a high pile of pillows on my head. Turned out, I had an overdosis of medicines (after all, I had the cough for 2 weeks -_-), so I stopped all medicines right away. I was asthmatic for the whole 2 days.

I didn't quite remember what happened next... (blame me for procrastinating so much >_<). The second half of the month of August seemed to fly past me, without many interesting events to be remembered of.

But I do remember that during the last two weeks in August, I applied for a job as a business analyst at ABN Amro Bank. I had to go through 3 interviews, the first two being with two supervisors of business analyst (two separate interviews; each supervisor must be satisfied with me before proceeding), and the third being with the head of the department. The first interview hit straight to the goal, I was 50% ahead to being accepted. Apparently, that supervisor liked me. But the second interview... somehow failed without apparent reasons. Funnily, the second supervisor didn't ask much in the interview. I wonder what could have made him not satisfied *shrugs*

They promised to contact me the next week, but turned out I was left hanging on uncertain decision forever. They didn't call me nor did they give a final decision whenever I called them. Maybe I shouldn't have informed them that I would've had a family trip (on Sept 8-11; in the event of my parents' 25th wedding anniversary on Sept 9th) to Bali and Solo. They might have thought that I didn't prioritize work over family. Who knows. When I called them to follow up, they only told me that the process did take a long time, because they were still interviewing other candidates. I was told by my referrer, a friend of my dad who used to work there until her son died 3 years ago, that the process of hiring at ABN Amro always takes a very careful and long path in order to find the best candidate. It has been two months now, and I just got an email from them, saying that the position has been filled. I had always known that their action of not contacting me right away meant I didn't get the job.

Above all, though, I now know that God has a completely different plan for me. For something very special happened after the second interview. Something that changed the course of my future into a bright and promising turn that I have never thought of before :)

The trip to Bangka resulted to something very sweet that I honestly never thought of before. During the trip, I stayed in the hotel room together with two other twentysomething girls, for there were 9 adults and 3 youths (including myself) divided into 4 rooms. One of them, Regina (or Nana) is my bestfriend from highschool. The other is Melly, one of the three psychologists who work in Shekinah Counselling Center (she's the first & the most talented). During our trip, we talked a lot about stuff, mostly deep & sensitive things we had never talked openly before, including ways of starting business.

Our relationships (of the 3 of us) grew stronger and closer post trip, until one day (on the beginning of September, if I recall correctly) we threw wild ideas of starting a wedding organizer business. It was at first started from Nana trying to find a professional (French) name for her music group, which is organized by her and requested mostly on weddings (Nana has been singing since 10 years old; she has an angelic voice). Then Melly said, "I was going to ask you guys to start a Wedding Organizer business together." We instantly joined our ideas, had preliminary meetings to prepare for everything needed to run the business (including company profile, design, positions, profit share, and all those necessities), and finally held its inauguration on Sept 17, 2003. It's called, "Fleur de Lis Event Organizer". That's my main job right now :) A job that never came to mind before.

Totally different from my major? Not really. For I am in charge of all graphic design (cards, stationaries, website, etc) and management (documents, information, database, systems, etc) of Fleur de Lis. Not only do my major (Management Science & Information Systems) is directly involved, but I also make use of my hobby: graphic & web design! :D I'm still in the process of creating the website. You'll be able to learn all about it when it's open.... soon. Oh! Read about the meaning of the name. Isn't it a wonderful name?

In addition to keeping myself busy with promoting Fleur de Lis and training ourselves, I and Nana have been taking Counselling Course (Sept 4th until Nov 6th, every Thursday & Friday at Shekinah building), taught by a few counsellors, psychologists (yup, one of them is Melly), and doctor (my mom). Also, I have been taking Advanced Bible Study Class every Tuesday evening (discussing John; very difficult!) and Wednesday morning (discussing Matthew). Those are my activities lately, with a few irregular additions here and there as the days keep changing.

That pretty much sums up the major things that happened in my life since you last heard of me and might be wondering what I have been up to. After the long narration, you can decide for yourself whether the glass is half full or half empty :)

If I happen to remember something I haven't written, I will add the story later on. For now, I bid you adieu!

"There are those relationships that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous..."
