V-day weekend: the bad and the good
First of all, since it's already Feb 16th (1.23 AM): Happy Birthday,
flojack :D
I didn't get to say this on Feb 14th, but Happy (belated) Valentine's Day! :3
Thank you to everyone who has commented in the previous entry about my mom. Sorry for my late reply... It's been a hectic week indeed.
Just like the subject says, there's a bad & good thing happening on V-day.
On Friday the 13th, I slept for 13 hours (!!!), and I installed 3 new windows updates at night. I restarted the computer around midnight (12.30 am on Feb 14), and it was stuck on XP logo forever (couldn't enter Windows). So I went into safe mode & uninstalled the new windows updates & XP SP 3, coz some people said that SP 3 had caused many problems. Big mistake.
Restarted again, and couldn't even enter safe mode! O_O Always stuck while trying to load agp440.sys. Using the XP CD recover console, did CHKDSK and left it while I went to sleep (it was already 6am!). Woke up at 10.30 (freaking out, because I was supposed to wake up at 9.30, but I must've turned off the alarm >_<). Found that the CHKDSK had fixed one or more errors, so restarted the comp again.
It went from worse to worst: couldn't detect monitor! The CPU is on, but won't show up in the monitor O_O
Called my cousin, and he said that the XP will have to be reinstalled all over again, because it can't even enter safe mode and the VGA driver might be missing during the wrong recovery process above (thus why it doesn't connect to the monitor).
I guess reinstalling XP is the best solution *nods* Especially since I have installed so many programs during the last 1.5 years and it got really cluttered! So I will bring the CPU to my cousin's office tomorrow.
That means I'm desktop-less until my computer is fixed (which could take days). Now since I can't do much using my mini Kohjinsha (and staring at that tiny netbook for hours, or even days, will make my eyes suffer), I decided to take my work/office desktop CPU home. I'm just hoping that all of the data is safe! *prays hard* I will ask my cousin to backup C:\ before he reinstalls Windows XP.
That noon, our community (Domus Cordis) hosted a talkshow & book launching & signing event at Cathedral Church hall, with the title "SexTalk with John Paul II" by Fr. Deshi Ramadhani, SJ. Fr. Deshi's book is called "LIHATLAH TUBUHKU: Membebaskan Seks bersama Yohanes Paulus II" (LOOK AT MY BODY: Liberating Sex With John Paul II).
So after arranging things with my cousin, I fled to Cathedral church, coz I was already more than an hour late for the preparation >_<
Around 300+ people came attending the SexTalk. It was nice, because we thought not many would've wanted to come since there were so many events on Valentine's day! They actually enjoyed the talkshow & Q&A sessions and some expressed their interest to have this SexTalk be hosted in their parish.
After the SexTalk, Fr. Deshi's family invited us (the team) to have Valentine dinner together at his sister-in-law's new restaurant called Basil at Talavera building (TB Simatupang, South Jakarta). The spaghetti aglio e olio is very good! :9 Some of us wanted a second plate of the main course (esp. the guys xD 1 plate is never enough!), but didn't want to embarass ourselves (this is a free set-menu dinner!), so we had to tell our still-hungry stomach to wait until after-dinner coffee time ^^ We tried Blumchen, a roasted coffee hangout place at Jl. Fatmawati. Very nice and homey cafe, albeit full of cigarette smoke (and couples! :P Of course, it's V-day after all). Stayed there, having fun & joking around until midnight. I love the intimate atmosphere at Blumchen last night :3
Before going home, my bro and I decided to have supper of tennis-sized meatball soup at Jl. Radio Dalam, because we were still hungry (....! :P). Arrived home at 1am, setup my office CPU to work with my monitor. Because this CPU is practically still empty (only office data & videos, mostly), I started to install the necessary program files that I use regularly in my dear computer. It might have been the strong coffee (kopi tubruk) I drank at Blumchen, but I was wide awake until 7am! >_< I was supposed to wake up at 10am that morning (Feb 15) to attend one of our community member's wedding ceremony at noon. But of course I skipped it (only 3 hours of sleep on a weekend? Absolutely NO WAY!) and went straight for the reception at Mulia Hotel instead. Photos will be posted later.
And that was how I spent Valentine's day 2009 :D
