Jazz Baby!
I'm so happy! *jumps up and down like a drunk kitten*
First of all, because Java Jazz is always like an oasis in the desert of Jakarta. Yeeeess... last weekend was 2007 Java Jazz Festival! :D
This year's Java Jazz is soooo crowded, though O_O But still good nonetheless. Of course, because David Benoit was there, although he was sick on the first day & had to cancel the performance. The second day, he felt better (thank God!) and performed with Michael Paulo, although his voice was still hoarse with the flu. David's my favorite pianist. He's so funny, humble, and very very talented! He can do a zillion things with the piano, from classical to jazz, carelessly and seriously, yet still produces such fine tunes. I love him. He's the reason I came to Java Jazz this year :3
On the last day of Java Jazz, David Benoit collaborated with Magenta Orchestra (Indonesian-based). This time, he played piano while conducting the orchestra, conducted them while Michael Paulo did the lead tunes with his saxophone, conducted them while playing piano... and so on. He's just too awesome! xD
I also managed to see the two performances of Jeff Lorber performing with Eric Marienthal (my fave saxophone player: handsome, very humble, and of course talented!), Rick Braun (also another humble artist), Dave Weckl, and Nathaniel Phillips. You see my pattern: I love humble & talented artists the most :)
Oh, and let's not forget Diane Schuur, with her angel voice! Brilliant! I'd like to know her highest pitch that she sang... It sounded so high, and her pitch was correct, too! Harvey Mason was also there... playing the drum for a number of artists. My brother was lucky, he got (from his car audio seller, who became his friend. The guy partnered with JJF & got a space for exhibiting his car audio systems at JCC) two free passes to see Jamie Cullum (the ticket was sold for Rp. 800,000 if you bought during those 3-days. Due to the progressive ticket sales method, if you bought it early, you'd get the starting price of Rp. 250,000 or more. Such a big difference, right?). While my bro and my dad watched Jamie, I ate martabak, drank a lot of Vitazones, and got a body & leg massage (using the automatic chair) for free :) That's one of the advantages for becoming a Telkomsel member ~ I could relax at the Telkomsel lounge for free :D I also peeked from one hall to another to see who's playing at where, but finally went back to the Telkomsel lounge for more relaxing while waiting.
Now, to conclude the happiness.... *drum rolls*
Let me present to you... the Black Cat jazz supper club!
Introducing: New Orleans Cajun & Creole Cuisine! The first in Indonesia! YAY! =D =D =D
Aren't I a happy kitten? Now my happiness is complete... I'm content :3
Cajun food with live jazz, it's like heaven on earth, the perfect combination!
Look how many exclamations I've used in this paragraph alone due to my excessive happiness! =)
Just wait until I try the food... very soon, very soon!
